Jackson County officials have arrested a suspect in a shooting that occurred around noon Saturday. The shooting happened on County Road 96 in Stevenson.
Investigators said the suspect came to the victim's mobile home and fired several rounds with a shotgun. The victim, 31-year-old James Jeremy Owens, was shot in the shoulder. A 38-year-old woman was present, but the shots missed her. James Owens was transported to Highlands Medical Center in Scottsboro with non-life-threatening injuries.
During the investigation, two weapons were located near Widows Creek Steam Plant according to officials.
Investigators and Deputies located and arrested 47-year-old Benny Joe Owens a few hours later in connection to the case. He was in a camper trailer off County Road 135.
Benny Owens was charged with two counts of attempted murder, and one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling. He was placed into Jackson County Jail, but bond has not been set yet.
