BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – About 1500 residents are without power in Bladen County. Most of them are from Bladenboro and are spending their time at a shelter in Elizabethtown.

According to Bradley Kinlaw, Bladen County Fire Marshall, 28 people were at Elizabethtown Middle School, which is the county's designated shelter.

The county provided a place to sleep, meals and most importantly: heat.

"I walked into my house and it was 50 degrees. I knew it would get into the twenties so I knew I couldn't stay there," said Kenneth Stubbs, who has been at the shelter for the past few days.

Those without power are spending their time in the library at Elizabethtown Middle School with plenty to be entertained by, including new friends.

"I've met a lot of nice people," says Stubbs, "I've really enjoyed talking to people here."

"You get to hear everyone's stories and experiences," said Manera Banner, "and now it's like one big family."
