WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – An unattended cooking fire didn't spread thanks to the quick response of the Wilmington Fire Department.

Several Wilmington Fire Department crews responded to the Pine Terrace Mobile Home Park around 2:45 Friday afternoon.  Battalion Chief William Burton said there was a report of a structure fire.  When crews arrived they found smoke coming from the mobile home's front door.

Burton said within five minutes of the initial call, the fire had been extinguished. The mobile home sustained only minor smoke damage, and everyone was able to get out safely.

The Wilmington Fire Department would like to remind people that cooking fires are the number one cause of fires in homes.
