A Phoenix family escaped injury when a garage fire broke out at their home Thursday night.
The family was doing laundry in the garage about 9 p.m. when they said they heard a loud bang and noticed smoke, said Phoenix Fire Capt. Ruben Saavedra.
Firefighters were at a new fire station less than a half-mile away from the house in the area of 65th Avenue and Buckeye Road, and were able to respond quickly and limit damage, Saavedra said.
He said there was no smoke or fire damage to the living area.
No injuries were reported and the investigation into the cause was continuing.
