First Alert Weather: quick-hitting shower system for Saturday, much warmer next week

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Friday's sunshine was therapeutic wasn't it? Your forecast features a rain system that will scoot through the area part of Saturday and a warm high pressure system that will build next week. Details...

LATE FRIDAY NIGHT: Expect thickening clouds. Rain chance: trending to near 30% by daybreak. Light southwest breezes will likely prevent temperatures from falling below the 40s at any point.

SATURDAY MORNING: Expect clouds and showers. Rain chance: 70%. Rain amounts: generally light - around 0.25" of an inch for many spots. Temperatures will hover in the 40s amid variable winds.

SATURDAY AFTERNOON:
Showers will either be done completely or wind-down quickly. Skies should trend brighter too. Chilly northwest breezes will keep temperatures from growing too much. Expect highs in the upper 40s and lower 50s.

SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY: Expect partly cloudy skies. Precipitation chances will be near 0%. Temperatures will chill to mainly the 30s for lows Saturday night before bouncing back to the 50s for Sunday afternoon.

A PEEK INTO NEXT WEEK: Temperatures could make a run toward 60 or the low 60s for Presidents' Day Monday and 60s and even 70s are likely for daily highs for many days after. Rain chances: highest - near 30% - Tuesday.
