WILMINGTON, NC (WECT)- Residents of Glover Plaza received some special storm assistance Thursday night.
The community had been without power for over 24 hours when members of the Salvation Army went door-to-door delivering meals to the residents.
"When I saw the little truck, I hurried up and got my wheelchair and got down here just as fast as I could and I was so thankful," said Glover Plaza resident Shelia Baker.
The Salvation Army employees delivered meals complete with beef stew, rice and a drink. They dished out over 30 dinners.
"We came out here to make sure they had a good meal- that they were able to get warm, and just enjoy some food that they may not have been able to have," said Matthew Tidman, a Salvation Army employee.
