(RNN) - In Washington, both houses of Congress passed a bill that would suspend the nation's debt limit until March 2015 without any conditions attached.

New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter said he plans to retire at the conclusion of the 2014 MLB season. Jeter helped the Yankees win five World Series championships.

Shirley Temple Black, who rose to fame as one of the most famous child actresses in Hollywood history, has died. She was 85 years old.
