A Davidson County jail deputy is recovering after reportedly being attacked by an inmate.
The officer suffered a concussion after the inmate allegedly grabbed her handcuffs from her belt and beat the officer over the head several times.
According to jail records, the jail officer was also cut and bruised.
The officer was trying to put inmate Kathy Towles in handcuffs to take her from the medical area of the jail back to her cell.
The officer told Towles to put her hands behind her back. Towles allegedly refused and threatened to break the officer's neck.
Police say Towles wrestled the officer to the ground before hitting the officer multiple times.
Towles was in jail in connection to an assault case and faces a new charge for aggravated assault on an officer.
