CASTLE HAYNE, NC (WECT) - Tree branches and caution tape sat in Laverne Lampkins' driveway Tuesday night, blocking her husband's SUV.
She said a crew from the electric company blocked it off after the branches knocked over a power line in her yard.
Lampkins said a representative from Duke Energy Progress planned to solve the situation by turning her power off, but she put a stop to it.
"It's 32 degrees out here, where are we supposed to go," she said. "What are we supposed to do?"
Now she and her husband are worried about the wire left in their driveway. Lampkins said she called customer service but it was no help because the power line is on her land.
Instead, she said the only option given to her is hire an electrician to fix her connection. Lampkins said she can't understand why the power company won't handle it.
"What difference does it make if it trees is on a wire that goes to the house," said Lampkins. "It's still a power wire."
