Police searching for child rapist

Law enforcement officers believe two major sex crimes happened around the 6000 block of Market Street. Brunswick County deputies arrested two men who they say kidnapped and then raped a woman from that area. Now Wilmington Police are looking for another rape suspect who could be hiding in that neighborhood.

The Brunswick County Sheriff's Office arrested Alton Butler and Johnny Herring III. Deputies say on Tuesday they kidnapped a woman near her home on Market Street. They say the men took her to a remote area in Brunswick County where they raped and left her. Both men were caught and taken to jail.

Now police in Wilmington are scouring the 6000 block of Market Street where they believe relatives may be hiding a rape suspect. Andy Herrera is wanted for sex crimes involving children. He's a 42-year-old while man, 5'6" tall, a weighs around 150 pounds. Police know he's raped one child, but believe there could be others.

If you have any information about Herrera call the Wilmington Police Department at (910) 343-3600.
