Boil Water Advisory to go into effect Tuesday

Posted: Updated:

WILMINGTON, NC - (WECT) - The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority (CFPUA) will issue a precautionary boil water advisory on Tuesday, February 11 at 9 a.m.

The advisory will be for customers living on or between North 4th and North 8th Streets on or between Harnett and Campbell Streets in the Northside of Wilmington.

On Tuesday, crews will be repairing broken valves in the area between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.  The advisory is just a precaution because periods of low or no water pressure during repairs increase the potential for bacteria to get into the water system.  Customers in the affected area should boil water for one minute, before using it. This includes drinking, brushing teeth, making ice, making food, washing fruits and veggies and making baby formula.  You do not need to boil the water for showering or bathing.

The Boil Water Advisory will remain in effect until the water quality testing shows the water has returned to normal. Usually this happens within 24 hours.
