WILMINGTON, NC (WECT)- A Wilmington radio DJ proposed to his girlfriend live over-the-air Saturday.
Crowds gathered at Perry's Emporium in Barclay Commons Saturday for the Valentine's Day VIP Giveaway event. Customers entered a raffle to win various prizes.
Brian Sims, morning show DJ with the WWQQ 101.3 radio station, hosted the event. Sims surprised all in attendance by proposing to his girlfriend, Meridith Belcher, live on his radio show.
"Up until the point where he pulled me up, I had no idea that this was going to happen today," said Belcher.
"She makes me a better man, and I love her and love being with her. I wanted the whole world to know," said Sims.
