WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - UNCW sent a letter to students Monday morning alerting them of the snow day make-up dates.
For some students, the letter came as a shock, as they did not think university-wide make-up dates would be required by the administration.
Students said they are frustrated for several reasons.
The make-up class dates are scheduled on a Saturday and UNCW's "Reading Day," which is a day given to students by the university to prepare for end of semester exams.
"I use reading day to get ready for exams. To know I have to go to class then instead of studying is really frustrating. My workload is going to be a lot," says one student.
Scheduling make-up classes on a Saturday leaves one UNCW student choosing work instead of academics because he says he doesn't have a choice.
"I can't go to my class on a Saturday because of work. If I take off on a Saturday I'm putting my coworkers in a bad position. The university should have asked for student input. It feels like they didn't take working students into consideration," says another UNCW student.
