First Alert Weather: soaking showers likely Saturday

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A rainy low pressure system will track along the Carolina Coast on Saturday. Drier air will build for Sunday and Monday ahead of a new storm system that's likely to bring precipitation for the middle of next week.

FRIDAY NIGHT: The chance of rain will grow to near 40% late. The lower atmosphere is a bit warmer with this system than Thursday night's system, so mixing of wintry precipitation is less likely than in the case of Thursday night. Lows: mid 30s. Winds: northeast 5 to 15mph.

SATURDAY: Expect widespread rain for the morning and midday hours. Rain may begin to exit during the afternoon and evening. Total rainfall will likely be on the order of 0.25" well inland and 0.75" near the coast - a soaker for all! Highs: 40s to near 50. Winds: north 10 to 20mph.

EXTENDED FORECAST HIGHLIGHTS: Expect much lower rain chances for Sunday and Monday with daily highs mainly in the 50s. A chilly storm system will bring 40 - 60% precipitation chances for Tuesday and Wednesday (most likely either all rain or a mix changing to rain).
