(WMC-TV) - Jerry Tucker is a member at French Riviera Spa in Raleigh. He joined because of the health club's location to work and was happy to hear they are relocating about five minutes away.
"It's a new environment that allows us to have more space," said Tucker.
The current vacant building on Austin Peay—an 11,500-square-foot, two-story building—will provide a new look to an otherwise rundown area. The facility is spending more than $500,000 to renovate a building on Austin Peay Highway into a health club.
Just down the street from Raleigh Springs Mall, the area is lined with vacant business, lenders, and small business where big chain stores used to be.
General Manager Jay Randall says the new location will bring a new sense of pride to the area, hopefully encouraging other businesses to move into vacant stores.
"The neat thing is being able to provide a state of the art fitness facility in that area. We're gonna come in with some really neat stuff it's gonna be one of the nicest in the area," said Randall.
Regardless of the outcome, Tucker is looking forward to the new space.
"I'm quite sure they are doing what they can to help bring the area back up," he said.
