The Georgia statewide tornado drill has been postponed until 9 a.m. Friday.
The drill was scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday, but was rescheduled due to the potential for adverse weather in portions of the state Wednesday.
The National Weather Service will trigger the alert on a NOAA radio at 9 a.m. Friday. Schools, hospitals and other organizations may not hear the tone alarm, but should exercise their plans at 9 a.m. anyway. The drill concludes at 9:30 a.m.
The Emergency Alert System will not be activated by radio and television stations. During an actual severe weather event, the alert tone will sound on radios and televisions.
The drill is part of Severe Weather Awareness Week.
