COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The Columbus County schools system has received a state grant to pay for two additional school resource officers.
According to school officials, the state will pay two-thirds of the new SRO's salaries and the school system will make up the difference.
Superintendent Alan Faulk said now they have the funding they just need commissioners to give them the officers.
Right now, schools share nine resource officers across the county. The hope is the grant will allow them to have more designated officers at high schools.
