Brunswick County sheriff's deputy laid to rest

BOLIVIA, NC (WECT) - A Brunswick County sheriff's deputy was laid to rest Saturday.

Tony Caison, a Detective Sergeant with the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office died Monday after fighting ampullary cancer for two years.  A memorial service was held Saturday at the Odell Williamson Auditorium in Bolivia, NC.

During the service, many people shared fond memories of Caison.  Former athletes the deputy coached, colleagues who worked with the cancer victim, and close family members all took time speak about Caison.

"Tony was just a fantastic person.  He had a huge heart for law enforcement, a huge heart for this community," said Emily Flax, spokeswoman for the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office.

"He's going to be missed, not only from his law enforcement family and his immediate family, but just the community in general," Flax elaborated.

Caison leaves behind a wife and two children.
