Two children were hit by a vehicle in the area of 8th and Campbell Streets. Two children were hit by a vehicle in the area of 8th and Campbell Streets.

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A toddler and a teenager were hit by a car Friday evening around 6 o'clock.

The accident happened near the intersection of 8th and Campbell Streets.

According to the Wilmington Police Department two girls, one 1-years-old the other 15-years-old, were hit by a vehicle. At least one of the girls was trapped underneath the car when emergency officials arrived.

As of 6:45 p.m. both victims had been transported to the hospital with significant, but non life-threatening injuries. Officials said the two were riding a moped, and pulled out in front of the Ford Focus.

Charges are not expected to be filed against the driver of the vehicle.
