UPDATE: Boil Water Advisory lifted

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority has lifted the precautionary boil water advisory. According to a press release from the CFPUA, a 12-inch water main, approximately 80 years of old, failed and required CFPUA crews to conduct a repair that affected water service

Residents who live on or around the area of Grace Street between North 13th Street and North 15th Street, were asked to boil an water that may be consumed. A water main break near the intersection of 13th and Grace Streets was cause for the advisory.

The Boil Water Advisory is typically lifted within 24 hours.  Residents will be made aware of the lifted advisory by a hand-delivered announcement, a post on www.cfpua.org, a recorded phone message at 332-6500, a phone notification from New Hanover County's emergency alert system and/or a press release to area media outlets.

A detour has been set up for traffic in the area.
