WHITEVILLE, NC (WECT) – Managers at National Spinning Company outside of Whiteville believe a crook is targeting their employees.
According to company managers, there have been nearly a dozen car break-ins over the past two weeks.
The plant, which makes yarn and fireproof suits, is open 24 hours Monday through Friday but is closed on the weekends.
Managers say thieves are breaking into vehicles during the overnight hours, taking personal belongings and damaging dash boards trying to get into glove compartments.
Even though the night gate around the facility is closed, the accused thieves are cutting the wire and jumping over the fence.
According to managers, the facility has surveillance cameras, but the parking lot is so large it's difficult to identify the person.
Managers are working with deputies to implement new security measures in an effort to stop the break-ins.
