Chesterfield dad accused of shaking baby has record

NBC12 has learned new information about a Chesterfield dad charged with shaking and seriously injuring his five-week-old son.

26-year-old Brandon McEnhimer is sitting at Riverside Regional Jail where he'll remain until his court date in March. Meanwhile, McEnhimer's son remains in the intensive-care-unit at VCU Medical Center.

This isn't McEnhimer's first run in with the law. Court documents show, his police record goes back to at least 2006, when he was convicted of assault and battery.

Now, he faces two counts of felony child abuse. Chesterfield police have said, McEnhimer originally told them that he slipped and fell with the baby.

However, hospital staff saw the child's extensive injuries and called police.

NBC12 spoke to a neighbor on Breaker Point Court in Chesterfield who said she has been questioned by police as a witness.

She wanted to remain anonymous but tells us, she saw the 26-year-old dad stumble but he never fell. Instead, the neighbor claims she saw McEnhimer the morning of January 15 when the alleged crime happened and says, the infant was hysterically crying.

According to that neighbor, the baby's mother has been staying at VCU Medical Center by her baby's bedside.
