WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – The Director of Sales at the Hilton Garden Inn and the Courtyard Marriott says the winter storm is adding to an already tough month for many in the hotel industry.

According to Kip Damrow, Tuesday and Wednesdays are normally busy days for travelers, but business is slow this week with the forecast of ice and snow.

Damrow believes flight cancellations are to blame for the low numbers.

Even though this is the first time we've experienced severe weather in our area this winter, conditions in other cities like Chicago and Washington DC have impacted the hotel occupancy as well.
