BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Deputies in Bladen County arrested a man early Friday morning in connection to heroin-related charges.

According to Chief Deputy Rodney Hester, officers were responding to a disturbance call just after midnight and noticed Matthew McKinley Meggs, 21, sitting in a vehicle parked on the side of the road in the area.

Hester said a deputy spoke with Meggs and noticed he was trying to hide something under his leg. The deputy had Meggs get out of the vehicle and discovered a bindle of heroin.

According to officials, another 23 bindles of heroin were found in the center console of the car.

Meggs was charged with trafficking heroin and maintaining a vehicle that was being used to keep heroin.
