NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Workers with the NC Department of Transportation hit the pavement early to prepare for the threat of ice and snow.
Crews started laying brine solutions on the roads Monday in an effort to help prevent the ice from bonding to the pavement.
Salt trucks and snow plows are ready to hit the roads when the time comes.
DOT officials said they also have crews ready to lay down sand when traction becomes an issue.
Authorities are urging residents to stay off the roads, if possible.
