WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Hundreds of people in the Wilmington theater community gathered Thursday night at Thalian Hall for the third annual Star News Theater Awards.

This year, special attention was paid to those who work behind the scenes, meaning all the winners, from Best Actor in a Musical to Best Lighting Design, accepted their awards on stage.

Opera House Theatre Company's production of Oklahoma was the big winner of the night, taking awards for Best Musical, Best Director, Best Actress and Best Actor.

Imaginary Theater Company's production of Venus in Fur won Best Play, Best Actress and Best Set Design.

Thalian Hall Executive Director Tony Rivenbark received the Enduring Contribution to Wilmington Theater Award.

And the entire audience sang happy birthday to Opera House Theatre Company Artistic Director Lou Criscuolo, who turned 80 years old Thursday.
