According to Chief Robert Kinlaw, officers were called to respond to reports of shots fired around 2:15 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Quail and Gum Streets in Elizabethtown.
Officers were given the description of a vehicle said to have been involved in the shooting when they arrived on the scene. They stopped a vehicle matching the description a short distance away.
There were four people and three handguns, one of which was reported stolen from Myrtle Beach in 2011, inside the vehicle.

Kinlaw said officers learned the victim at the hospital had been shot at the same location where they had been dispatched for the shots fired call.
