NAKINA, NC (WECT) – Some rescue workers in Columbus County are finally getting paid.
County commissioners have agreed to pay workers with Nakina Fire and Rescue Department who haven't been compensated since March 2013.
According to commissioners, they wanted to wait until an agreement was reached in a litigation between the two groups claiming to be over the department.
Both boards, however, signed documents agreeing the workers should get paid.
