Lt. Governor Dan Forest was in Whiteville Tuesday attending a fundraiser at Vineland Station to benefit NC House District 46 candidate Brenden Jones (R), who is a business owner in Tabor City. Lt. WHITEVILLE, NC (WECT) – Lt. Governor Dan Forest was in Whiteville Tuesday attending a fundraiser at Vineland Station.

The event was to benefit NC House District 46 candidate Brenden Jones (R), who is a business owner in Tabor City.

Jones said he wants to help bring more jobs to Columbus, Bladen and Robeson Counties, which are all areas with high unemployment rates.

Forest appointed Jones to the Rural Center Board more than a year ago.

    The Mississippi Highway Patrol is looking for a driver who ran away from the scene of a deadly crash in George County. Three children were killed in the crash. Troopers said a green 2003 Kia Optima was heading east on Highway 198, east of Depot Road, shortly before 4 p.m. on Saturday.
