WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A man from New Hanover County who was once convicted of murder will have a retrial. It just won't take place in New Hanover County.
Andre Sharpless was back in court Tuesday. Sharpless pleaded not guilty and his case was moved to Onslow County.
Sharpless was convicted of first degree murder in March of 2011 for killing Tarell Phillips on North Tenth street in December 2009. Sharpless was sentenced to life in prison without parole. The NC Court of Appeals deemed some of the vital case evidence inadmissible in Sharpless' first trial, sending the case back for new consideration.
Sharpless was offered a plea deal Tuesday, but did not accept.
