WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - One child from Wilmington is making his debut on the big screen this week.
Beau Wright is nine years old and has Down's syndrome. This summer, Beau scored a role in the film, Little Secrets. It debuts this week at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah.
In the movie, Beau's character has to keep a very serious secret. The plot of the film focuses on tragedy in a small West Virginia coal-mining community.
Ben Wright, Beau's father, said he is very proud of his son's performance.
"We were concerned that he'd show up on the set and not cooperate for whatever reason, but he did cooperate and he got the fact that something was expected of him, something pretty major. He really rose to the occasion," said Ben Wright, Beau's father.
The film officially premiers at the festival Wednesday night.
