WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Hundreds flocked to downtown Wilmington for the annual MLK parade Monday.
Representatives from local schools, government agencies, and civic groups like the NAACP all took to the street to enjoy the beautiful weather and excitement from the parade.
This year the parade traveled through 3rd and 4th streets so that access points to local shops and businesses weren't blocked on Front and Water Streets.
Many in attendance wanted to recognize the positive impact Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. has had on the country.
"Look at us. Blacks and whites are closer now. We have more unity and love for each other. Especially this generation," said Pearlene Greene, a woman at the parade.
