WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Hundreds of people celebrated the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Sunday by promoting college education.
Williston Middle School in Wilmington hosted the Historically Black College and University Experience.
The event included a battle of the bands between Elizabeth City State University and Saint Augustine's University.
Representatives from area colleges were also on hand to talk with interested students.
Organizers say the event helps keep Dr. King's vision alive.
"Dr. King stood for people being able to do for themselves and go forward and move forward for themselves, and college gives you the opportunity to do that," said event organizer Frankie Pollock, Jr.
