WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - This year's Martin Luther King Parade will follow a different route than last year's parade.
According to a news release from city officials, the parade was held on Front and Water Streets for the first time last year after years on Castle Street, which prompted concerns about business access and notification, as well as the need to hold the parade in a more visible and prominent location.
The city, along with the MLK committee, developed a new route that would place the parade on streets primarily dominated by government and institutional uses already closed for the holiday.
