WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Bottle-nose dolphins are continuing to wash up on North Carolina shores.
Officials with UNCW's Marine Mammal Stranding Program say the number of dolphin strandings is going down in North Carolina, but they are still seeing about five to ten dolphins wash up a week throughout the state.
A large number of those dolphins have tested positive for Morbillvirus. The disease, which is similar to measles in humans, has already killed hundreds of dolphins along the east coast.
