WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – The North Carolina Governors Highway Safety Program, "Booze It & Lose It" holiday campaign wrapped up in early January, and the results of those efforts are now available.
Statewide, 3,164 people were charged with DWI at one of over 18,000 checkpoints.
In our area there were 219 DWI arrest made at 393 checkpoints between December 13, 2013 and January 5, 2014.
The checkpoints were also helpful in catching 5,786 traffic and criminal violators.
Wake County came in first for most DWI arrest, with 329. They also had the most total violations with over 11,000.
Graham County had the lowest amount of total arrests with 98.
Tyrrell and Mitchell Counties both had 0 DWI arrests during the ‘Booze It & Lose It' holiday campaign.
