WILMINGTON, NC (WECT)—The Ashley girl's basketball team has forfeited four victories for using an ineligible player.
Ashley High School Athletic Director Roy Turner confirmed the violation. The player was ruled ineligible after the school found out that they live outside of New Hanover County.
Along with forfeiting the five games, the school had to pay at $500.00 fine which was reduced to $250.00 because the violations where self reported.
The five games forfeited came before the holiday break, and the Screaming Eagles are still eligible to compete in post season play.
