WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - An international flight heading from Halifax, Nova Scotia to Cuba diverted to Wilmington International Airport Wednesday afternoon for a medical emergency.
The plane landed around 11:41 a.m. at ILM, so a passenger could be taken for treatment to New Hanover Regional Medical Center. However, after preparing to take off, the aircraft from CanJet developed a mechanical issue, so the flight is delayed a bit longer.
Gary Broughton, Operations Director for ILM airport, says the 183 people on board have been checked in at customs, while the carrier brings another aircraft in to finish their flight to Cuba. The plane is set to leave tonight after 9 p.m.
