Commissioner decides to seek re-election after all

Pender County commissioner David Williams will seek re-election. Pender County commissioner David Williams will seek re-election.

PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Pender County commissioner David Williams will seek re-election.

Williams made the announcement Tuesday night to the Pender County Board of Commission. This is a turn from previous statements saying he would not run again.

Williams said he took some time reflecting and talking with friends and family before making his final decision to seek re-election.

The commissioner was worried about the impact running again would have on his family, but said he now knows how much they support his decisions.

Williams said he is running because he can still serve to the best of his abilities and would like to focus on the entire county and not just his district.

Williams also said he is running, regardless of what Chester Ward decides to do. Because of redistricting, Ward and Williams are now in the same district.
