WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Health officials say New Hanover County is not included in the regions where flu complications have killed 22 people.
The North Carolina Health Department says the flu is wide spread, affecting areas like Western North Carolina, the Piedmont and the Triangle.
Health officials at the New Hanover County Health Department says the flu season this year has not had as many deaths as last year but there is still time for a peak.
Flu season starts in September and can continue until March so officials warn to get a flu shot now, in case the flu season peak happens later in the season.
