Sirens will sound for short periods of time lasting about 10 seconds.
BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – If you hear a siren Wednesday morning around 10, don't worry – it's just a test.
The Brunswick Nuclear Plant will conduct a "low growl" test of the public notification sirens located within 10 miles of the facility, January 15. Sirens will sound for short periods of time lasting about 10 seconds.
The sirens are tested on a regular basis to ensure the system is in good working order. The next low growl tests are slated to take place April 16, July 16 and October 15.
A full volume test, lasting for about three minutes, is scheduled once a year – November 19.
