Henrico Police are investigating an early morning shooting in Glen Allen.
Police tell us they responded to Lito Road near London Court around 1:15 a.m. Sunday for reports of shots fired.
Sunday mornings deadly shooting was a first for James and Frances Waddy, they've lived in this Glen Allen neighborhood for the last 15 years.
Both were coming back from out of town early this morning when police barred them from getting to their home.
"When we came in they had the cops, the fire trucks and all that out and they had it taped off I couldn't get in my own drive way because I had to turn and go back another way,' Frances Waddy said.
The Waddy's weren't the only people disturbed by the shooting. Anthony Wilkerson who lives nearby heard gun shots rang out.
"There was approximately 8 to 10 shots fired right over here and as they were walking away or running away they were firing back," Waddy said.
Neighbors say this vacant home at the corner of London Drive and London Court is known for frequent parties. Police tell us when they arrived at the location they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Wilkerson told me that it appeared that things got out of hand at the house party. He says when shots were fired people in the area scattered.
"It was more than revolver or more than one gun involved because I heard different levels of sounds."
Frances Waddy says she's called the police several times about "out of control" parties at this vacant home.
"Somebody you know need to come and stay on top of them because if they keep on letting it go on its going to happen again," Waddy said.
This mornings shooting was the last straw for Anthony Wilkerson. He says he won't tolerate crimes like these near his home anymore.
"If its loud enough to wake me up then the cops are going to have to get involved period," Wilkerson said.
At last check police were still working to notify family members of the man. If you have any information about this death investigation call Crime Stoppers that number 804-780-1000.
