First Alert Weather: Mild with strong thunderstorms likely late Saturday

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Mild, above normal, conditions are expected as we head into the weekend. Rain chances increase ahead of a Saturday evening cold front that could produce severe thunderstorms.  Sunday will be cooler and dry. 

SATURDAY: Scattered showers early will give way to widespread showers and thunderstorms later in the day.   There is a slight risk of a few strong to severe thunderstorms with damaging winds the primary threat.  This threat could continue into Saturday evening.  Skies will quickly clear after 10 PM behind a front.  Most locations could pick up over an inch of rain.  Hi: 73, Rain 90%  Lows by Sunday morning will reach the upper 40's.  Ahead of the front we will have a south wind at 12-18 mph. 

SUNDAY:   Skies will become sunny with highs in the low 60's.  Lows Sunday night will be in the upper 30's. Good day to be outdoors, a little bit on the cool and breezy side.  Expect a westerly breeze at 8-12 mph. 

MONDAY AND TUESDAY: Expect lots of sun Monday and some scattered showers on Tuesday.  Highs both days will be in the upper 60's.  Lows will be in the 40's.
 
WEDNESDAY AND THRUSDAY: The next blast of Arctic cold arrives!   On Wednesday it will be mostly cloudy with a few showers prior to the arrival of the next strong cold front.  Highs could reach the mid 50's before falling late in the day.  Lows Wednesday night dip into the 20's.  Thursday will be sunny and cold with highs in the upper 40's.
