WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – The City of Wilmington will hold a public meeting Thursday night at 6 at Halyburton Park to talk about the greens restoration design for the Wilmington Municipal Golf Course.
According to the city, the course was originally designed by Donald Ross in 1926 and completed in 1929.
The average 59,000 rounds per year has taken its toll on the greens, making them smaller and rounder and not in keeping with the original design.
John Fought Design Golf Course Architecture was awarded a $121,000 contract in November for design restoration.
Wilmington City Council is expected to decide if the renovation will happen all at once or in two phases during their meeting Jan. 21.
