WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A movie filmed in Wilmington will have its first public screening since its debut at the Cucalorus Film Festival.

McDuffy: The Urban Eagle is described as an action/comedy.

"McDuffy is a rogue detective, up to no good," said producer Michael Kuhn. "He shoots first and asks questions never."

Matt McHugh, who stars in the film, said he incorporated several action heroes of the 80s and 90s into the character, McDuffy.

Producer Brandon Luck told us the movie came together with the help of crew members who work on the big TV shows in town, including Eastbound and Down, Under the Dome and Sleepy Hollow.

"When we go to do independent projects, everyone comes on board and enjoys it," Luck said.

The filmmakers hope to get the movie into film festivals around the globe. They would like to get support to make it into a full-length feature or TV show.

The screening for McDuffy is Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. at 1200 N 23rd Street, Suite 209, in Wilmington.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers.
