South Brunswick track star signs with Dartmouth

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – South Brunswick High School Senior, Colin Minor, signed his letter of intent to attend Dartmouth University for Track and Field Tuesday.

Minor, competes in the shot put, discus, and hammer throw. He won both the indoor and outdoor State Championship in shot put, and placed second in the discus throw. 

Minor excels in the hammer throw. He made the USA World youth team and traveled to the Ukraine this past summer to compete in the event. After making the finals at the competition, he is now ranked twelfth in the world. Minor is also the USATF National Champion for the Hammer throw.

The family says he chose Dartmouth for athletics and academics. Minor wants to study chemical engineering.

The throws coach at Dartmouth also has local ties the North Carolina. Coach, Michele Clayton, is in the East Carolina University Hall of Fame for throws.
