COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Investigators are trying to determine if a burglary at the Dollar General in Fair Bluff is connected to other Dollar General break-ins in surrounding areas.
According to police, two men broke into the business Dec. 12 around 12:30 a.m. Officials said the men cut telephone lines and broke a speaker to make sure the alarm system wouldn't sound.
Investigators said the men got away with more than $3,000, including the value of the safe they stole.
Interim Police Chief Ronald Carroll said this incident is similar to the burglary of a Dollar General in Horry County.
According to investigators, there have also been recent break-ins at two Dollar Generals in Bladen County.
