WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – The Jubilee sank sometime Thursday while it was docked next to the Henrietta.

Thurman Burgess said he received a phone call saying the boat was going down, but no one was on board at the time.

According to Dylan Lee with the City of Wilmington, the Wilmington Fire Department was called to the scene Thursday morning.

Lee said WFD helped a private towing/salvage company place a boom around the site.

A barge with a crane was attempting to recover the boat Friday so it could then be moved to a salvage yard. As of Friday afternoon, it had bee partially brought to the surface.

The boat's owner said there are a lot of floating pieces of wood and small trees in the river and believes the debris hit his boat because of the strong current.

The Jubilee was a bed and breakfast that was a dockside yacht rental. The owner said it's been docked in the location for six years.
