South Carolina takes hot hand into action against SC State

(RNN) - After using a big second half to pound Marshall in its last outing, 6-6 South Carolina takes a three-game win streak into Friday's game with South Carolina State. The game tips at 7 p.m. ET on Jan. 3 and will air on Sports South.

The Gamecocks closed the first half on a 6-0 run to lead the Thundering Herd 36-31 at the half, then used a 14-1 run in the second period to start the rout.

Tyrone Johnson and Brenton Williams scored 18 apiece to help wreck Marshall 92-65 on Monday night at home. Williams completed a three-point play midway through the half to break the school record for consecutive free throws at 42.

South Carolina State (4-8) is coming off a 69-58 win over Coastal Carolina that snapped a two-year long road winless streak. Theron Stephens and Matthew Hezekiah each scored 15, and Jalen White scored 12 with six rebounds, seven assists and three steals.
