After its first two years in the highest level of competition in college football, Umass Amherst has fired Charley Molnar as head football coach.
Umass joined the Mid-American Conference and the Football Bowl Subdivision in 2012. Since then, Molnar has gone 2-22 with the team.
The college said that performance in several areas must be improved and the team must move in a new direction.
A statement issued to CBS 3 by UMass on Molnar's termination reads, "We want to thank Charley Molnar for his service and the extraordinary time and energy he devoted to coaching the Minutemen as we entered competition in the Football Bowl Subdivision."
The search for a new coach is already underway.
